Today I marched

The 2018 Women’s March was my first political protest. I marched for many things.. Global gender inequality, access to education, sex trafficking.. And also the environment. As I spend more time in nature, the more I begin to care deeply about it. We need access to nature. We need clean air. We need water. We need plants. We cannot survive without our natural resources. This … Continue reading Today I marched

Four Ceder Trail – Tolmie State Park

Western Washington has a lot lowland trails that can be hiked year round. It is easy forget that we basically live in a rain forest, until you start walking in a forest after a rainy week. The Four Ceders Tail is  located inside Tolmie State Park. It’s a two mile long trail that winds through the park. It’s all forested, and it is has minimal … Continue reading Four Ceder Trail – Tolmie State Park

Deschutes Falls Park

After being closed for 25 years, Deschutes Falls Park is open again and it’s a beauty. The park was used as a campground from the 1940’s to 1980’s, and Thurston County purchased the land and it’s been closed since the 1990’s. The park is easy to find off google maps (the address is 25005 Bald Hill Rd SE, Yelm, WA 98597), and there are county … Continue reading Deschutes Falls Park

Tolmie State Park

Last Thursday, we have one last glorious 80 degree day. To send summer off, I headed over to Tolmie State Park. I’m slowly trying to check out things to do in the South Sound. Tolmie State Park is located just northeast of Olympia. It’s a marine park with a nice stretch of calm beach to explore. There are 3 miles of hiking trails in a … Continue reading Tolmie State Park

Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge

The refuge is located where the Nisqually River and Medicine Creek meet the Puget Sound. Over the years,  there has been a lot of work has been done to restore the land to it’s natural state like removing dikes. There are a lot of trails and … Continue reading Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge

Dosewallips State Park

Located near Brinnon, Washington on the Hood Canal, Dosewallips State Park has lots of options for marine related activities. The Dosewallips River runs through the park, and there is a large stretch of Hood Canal beach. To access the beach, take the road that is just north of the Dosewallips River. You drive past a field and there is a parking lot. You walk through … Continue reading Dosewallips State Park

Cape Disappointment State Park

Cape Disappointment is located on the very southwestern tip of Washington State, and is just north of the mouth of the Columbia River. It’s one of the foggiest places in the U.S., but luckily I visited the park on a clear sunny day.  This area was visited by early European explorers and the military used the land to protect the Columbia River from threats during the … Continue reading Cape Disappointment State Park
